A Nelson County mother who admitted to killing her 6-week-old baby has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison.<\/p>\n
A judge sentenced Autumn Woods on Friday after she pleaded guilty in February to voluntary manslaughter and child abuse.<\/p>\n
In December 2024, officers responded to a call and found the baby blue and bleeding from the mouth. Woods told officers the baby had been sleeping on the couch with her, then later with the child\u2019s father.<\/p>\n
The cause of death was ruled suffocation, and the baby had multiple previously broken ribs.<\/p>\n
The judge sentenced Woods to 10 years, with six and a half years suspended.<\/p>\n
The baby\u2019s father, Ethan Garfield, is set for a plea Monday to second-degree murder and felony child abuse.<\/p>\n
